As I was putting the slide on the receiver, it was back far enough to be flush with the front and back of the receiver as if it were normally on.

Most likely the ammo was loaded too long for the chamber. But, now you have a stuck round. Using a squib rod would work but is dangerous. Best way is to uses a soft/brass mallet or similar and while pointing the barrel away from anything smack a prominent surface on the slide.Need to do a Sig P365 or Sig P365 XL Slide apart. I don't think the firing pin is shaped at a sharp angle. Take another look under good light. It doesn't make good sense to have a sharp pointed firing pin. I have never seen that shape on any gun in the last 60 years.Gee, if the striker tip in the P365 wears down to a nub so quickly then won't fire at all, why aren't we allowed (by the Sig Owner's Manual) to strip the gun down to the striker to inspect it frequently? Why are we not allowed to replace the striker tip to keep the gun working past just a few hundred rounds? Inquiring minds want to know.
